We are a warm, friendly and helpful group of enthusiasts.
Our aims are:- To promote all aspects of model boating and to encourage more people to take up the hobby, especially the younger generation.
Whether you want to buy or build your boat help and advice is readily available.
Our members models cover a wide range of styles from steam
driven warships and launches to airscrew driven 'fun' craft.
Twice a year we hold our famous BRING & BUY SALE on the last Sunday in March and and September check for more details in the events section.
Sailing times
We meet every Sunday morning from 9am till 12noon 52 weeks a year, to
sail, chat, share ideas and information and have a 'brew' and a natter. Visitors
are very welcome every Sunday.
Our water is in the grounds of Mutual Mills, Aspinall Street,
Heywood, Lancashire. The mill is a business centre so sailing is not available
at any other time. The surroundings tend to leave sailing vessels in the
'Doldrums' but it does mean we have relatively calm water for everyone else. Due
to the closeness of local residents IC and fast electric powered craft are not
permitted.
We are sorry that we have to make these restrictions but we
have to protect our water.
Location and facilities
Mutual Mills, Aspinall Street, Heywood, Lancashire is just

History
In 1990 a group of enthusiastic modeller's met weekly at the
Boarhurst W.M.C. First it was model trains, soon the building of radio
controlled model boats became part of the groups enthusiasm.
By 1992 the need to find somewhere to sail their completed
boats became a priority.
The lodge in the grounds of Mutual Mill Aspinall Street
Heywood was an ideal location, and permission was sought to use the water and
the Mutual Model Boat Society was formed
